UPSC CSE Syllabus & Resources: How to Prepare for General Studies Paper I

The UPSC CSE exam syllabus is vast and it’s a challenge to complete the entire syllabus. Therefore, we’re going to break it down and provide the syllabus in separate articles. The following article contains the syllabus of the General Studies Paper I of the UPSC CSE Prelims Exam and resources for preparation.  This article is brought to you by Oliveboard, an online exam preparation platform for government and banking jobs.

First, let’s have a look at the UPSC CSE Prelims Exam Pattern:

The Question papers will be set both in Hindi & English.The Prelims Exam comprises of two compulsory Objective Type papers of 200 marks each. The General Studies Paper II is qualifying in nature with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%. The above pattern is based on the 2017 exam.

·         An Introduction to Indian Art (Part-1)- Class 11th NCERT

3.     Indian and World Geography – Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World

4.     Indian Polity and Governance Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Right Issues, etc.

5.     Economic and Social Development – Sustainable development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.

6.      General Issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate change
