There is no gimik or trick to crack UPSC prelims at the last minute.
You should have spent minimum 6–12 months of preparation effort to reach the stage where you feel confident enough to crack the UPSC Prelims exam.
So, plan and prepare accordingly for UPSC Civil Services Exam.
And for those, who have made all their effort and appearing for Prelims exam, I would like to share the Do’s and Don’ts on the day of Prelims Exam.
Dos before exam starts
- Have a good sleep and healthy diet
- Arrive early to exam centre
- Carry two black ball pens and your ID proof
- Mark your roll number correctly
Dos during the Civil Services Prelims Exam
- Glance all the 100 questions for few minutes before start answering.
- Read question twice before you start answering the question
- Check out for keywords like like NOT correct, INCORRECT, etc. in the question paper
- Mark the answer properly in answer sheet.
- While answering questions, mark questions which you are 100% sure and also questions in which you are confused between two options. In the second round you can assess how many you have attempted, if it's less than 70 questions go for the 2nd round and attempt in which you are confused between 3 options.
- Try to attempt 80-90 Questions in Prelims GS Paper 1 to improve chances of qualifying for Mains
Don’ts during the Civil Services Prelims Exam
- Don’t panic in the examination hall if you don t know any answers in the beginning (hold your nerves and relax, calm yourself and then start again)
- Don’t guess vaguely, if you don’t have any knowledge on that question (Leave it)
- Don’t discuss any topic with your friends both before and after exams. Never.
