1) Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana launched to Promote Philately
•Minister of Communications Shri Manoj Sinha launched a Pan India scholarship program for school children called Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana to increase the reach of Philately.
•Under the scheme of SPARSH (Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude & Research in Stamps as a Hobby), it is proposed to award annual scholarships to children of Standard VI to IX having good academic record and also pursuing Philately as a hobby. The amount of Scholarship will be Rs. 6000/- per annum @ Rs. 500/- per month.
2) Balijatra Festival Begins In Cuttack
•The annual ‘Balijatra’ festival was inaugurated by Health and Law Minister Pratap Jena at Gadagadia ghat in Odisha on the banks of river Mahanadi.
•The week-long famous fair on an area of 30 acres on the river bank will continue till November 10. It got the nod from east zone bench of National Green Tribunal for the second time this year.
3) Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal Launches 647 Schemes for Development of Majuli
•Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal rolled out 647 schemes entailing an investment of Rs 24.57 crore for development of the world's largest river island Majuli.
•Out of these, 448 schemes under MGNREGA involved Rs 21.90 crore and 199 schemes under 14th Finance Commission have an outlay of Rs 2.67 crore, it added.
4) Poonguzhali Becomes First Woman Sr DDG Appointed in TERM, DoT
•N Poonguzhali has become the first woman to be appointed as senior Deputy Director General, Tamil Nadu,Telecom Enforcement Resource Monitoring (TERM), Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
•She is an Indian telecom service officer of the 1979 batch and an alumnus of IIT Madras.
5) Indian Women Win Asia Cup, Qualifies for Hockey World Cup
•India has defeated China 5-4 via shootout to win the women’s Asia Cup hockey title 2017. With this, India also qualified for World Cup 2018 as Continental champion.
•Savita Punia was adjudged Goalkeeper-of-the-Tournament while Monica won the Woman-of-the-Match award.Skipper Rani scored twice while Monica, Lilima Minz and Navjot Kaur scored a goal each in the shootout.
6) ICICI Bank Teams with Apple to Launch Voice-Based International Remittance Service
•ICICI Bank announced the launch of India's first voice-based international remittance service to enable non-resident Indians (NRIs) to send money to any bank in India.
•With this new feature in the ICICI Bank's Money2India app, an NRI customer can instantly initiate a remittance to his/her existing payees in India with just a simple voice command to Apple's virtual voice assistant, Siri, on their iPhone/iPad.
