1) Public Service Broadcasting Day being observed today
•Public Service Broadcasting Day is being observed today. The day is observed every year to commemorate the first and last visit of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi to the studio of All India Radio, Delhi in 1947.
•He addressed the displaced people, who had temporarily settled at Kurukshetra in Haryana after partition.
•A function was organized at the premises of Broadcasting House, All India Radio in New Delhi to mark the occasion. Artists of All India Radio recited favourite bhajans of Gandhiji and students of two Delhi Schools sung couple of songs on National Unity.
2) PM Modi reaches Philippines on three-day official visit
•Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached the Philippines capital Manila on a three-day official visit.
•He will be attending the ASEAN, the East Asia and the India-ASEAN annual Summits.
3) Air quality index in Delhi-NCR continues to remain in severe zone; visibility improves
•In national capital Delhi, people experienced mist in the morning with air quality index remaining in severe zone. According to CPCB data the average level of PM 10 was recorded at 474 while PM 2.5 was at 477.
•According to the MeT department, the visibility remained at 300 metres at 5.30 AM and 400 metres at 8.30 this morning. MeT department said there will be a partly cloudy SKY sky during the day, which may clear the prevailing smog condition in National capital region.
4) 4th India-Canada Annual Ministerial Dialogue begins tomorrow
•The fourth India-Canada Annual Ministerial Dialogue will begin in New Delhi on Monday.
•The Indian delegation will be led by the Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu and the Canadian International Trade Minister, François-Philippe Champagne will lead the Canadian delegation.
5) Karnataka inks pacts with Chinese firms
•Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has inaugurated the sixth China-India Forum meet being jointly hosted by the Government of China, Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), China-India Friendship Association (CIFA), and Podar Enterprise in Bengaluru.
•Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries RV Deshpande stated Karnataka expected trade and investments between India and China to increase as India sees big opportunities to attract Chinese companies to Make in India, besides attracting investments.
