1) World Intellectual Property Day – 26 April
•Every April 26, World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated to learn about the role that intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, industrial designs, copyright) play in encouraging innovation and creativity.

•WIP Day is organized by World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). WIPO is the global forum for intellectual property services, policy, information, and cooperation. It is a self-funding agency of the United Nations, with 189 member states.

2) India’s first sea ropeway to link Mumbai and Elephanta island
•India’s first and longest ropeway to connect Mumbai with the famous Elephanta Island in the Arabian Sea is planned to be constructed by the Mumbai Port Trust, according to the official report.

•The 8-km ropeway will begin from Sewri in Mumbai’s east coast and end at Raigad district’s Elephanta Island, globally renowned for Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The approximately 40-minute ride by a 20-seater cable car, with a transit station midway will be a major boost to tourism.

3) Northeast India's largest IT hub opens in Tripura
•Northeast India's largest Information Technology (IT) hub was inaugurated at Agartala to boost employment and e-governance besides to export software technology. The Hub was set up at a cost of Rs. 50 crore. The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Sarkar inaugurated the IT hub.

•It is the sixth hub in the North east region. This IT hub would help to create employment opportunities for the IT educated youth and to further extend the e-governance to the door step of people. This will promote the national initiatives like Digital India and Start-up India.

4) White House names Randolph Ailes as new Director of Secret Service
•The White House has named a retired Marine major general Randolph Ailes as the new Director of the Secret Service. Ailes was in the Marine Corps for 35 years.

•He has been the acting deputy commissioner of Customs and Border Protection and previously oversaw the agency's air and marine division. Ailes is replacing Joseph Clancy, who retired from the agency.

5) Youngest Indian chancellor bags Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Foundation award
•The youngest chancellor of any university in the nation, Dileep K Nair has bagged Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Foundation award for excellent performance in the field of education in Trivendurum, Kerala.

•The 38-year-old academician, who currently is the Chancellor of the North East Frontier Technical University (NEFTU) in Arunachal Pradesh, received Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Foundation Kerala State award for the year 2016-17. Nair is also the founder of The Automobile Society (India) and The Engineer's Outlook Magazine.

6) India, Armenia sign 3 agreements
•India and Armenia have signed three agreements after Vice President Hamid Ansari held a bilateral meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan in Yerevan, Armenia.

•The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on peaceful uses of outer space, another MoU on cooperation in youth matters and a program of cultural cooperation for the years 2017-2020. The two countries are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.
